Über die Veranstaltung Abandhana is a new multidisciplinary dance-theatre work inspired by the Therīgāthā - the oldest surviving anthology of poems by early Buddhist nuns. Dancer-maker Divya Ravi brings together Bharatanatyam, live vocals, cello, percussion, and contemporary performance, reimagining these historically significant feminist voices for today’s audiences through movement, music, and theatrical storytelling, exploring themes of resistance, resilience and spiritual agency. Following a critically received preview at The Place’s Resolution Festival, this special sharing marks the culmination of an Arts Council England-funded creation process, supported by The Place (Choreodrome), BAC, Dance East and RedSapata (Austria). (c) Mithun Pai Photography Artist Showcase: Our international and local (guest) artists present their work-in-progress performances at our second venue, AUBERGiNE. Visitors can look forward to multidisciplinary projects and, in most cases, an opportunity to engage in direct conversation with the artists afterwards, creating space for exchange and dialogue.
