Om die zorg te kunnen bekostigen, besluit de familie de opbrengst van hun stukken land op de Westbank, het familie erfgoed, te investeren in een groot project in Hebron. Zo zou ieder familielid verzekerd zijn van voldoende middelen om de zorgkosten te dragen. Wanneer Shakers moeder overlijdt en in Amsterdam wordt begraven, ontdekt Shaker dat zijn licht dementerende vader de contracten voor de investering in het Hebron project niet heeft ondertekend.
