Sleep effect by Miriam Bonaccorso ＆ her Team is a creation inspired by Anthony de Mello’s book Message for an Eagle Who Thinks He’s a Chicken. A key idea from his work – “Life is a mystery that the rational mind cannot grasp; to understand it, you must wake up” – became the essence of this research. The creation explores human unawareness as a state of sleep—a passive and disconnected condition. The artists imagined an apocalyptic world where awakening is the only path to freedom: awakening to self-awareness. Two dancers move within a seemingly perfect but artificial reality, where fear and comfort coexist. Their awakening leads them back to authentic sensations and acceptance of life.
