John Cooper Clarke is een graag geziene gast op het podium. Hij wordt voor gastoptredens uitgenodigd door o.a. Sex Pistols, Joy Division, Buzzcocks, The Fall, Elvis Costello en New Order. Tussen 1978 en 1983 brengt John Cooper Clarke vijf albums en verschillende EP's en singles uit. Zijn gedichten worden muzikaal ondersteund door de band The Invisible Girls. De langverwachte autobiografie van JCC verscheen in 2020, genoemd maar zijn beroemdste gedicht 'I Wanna Be Yours'. Hierin vertelt hij tot in de kleinste details over zijn fascinerende leven in Manchester, de opkomst van punk en drugsverslavingen.
