Three Sisters Tour Based between Amsterdam and Berlin, Goblyns masterfully blend funk, soul, krautrock, and psychedelic hooks. Their sound is driven by sticky, syncopated drum-and-bass grooves and powerful, fuzzy riffs. The (mostly) instrumental trio—made up of brothers Liam and Francis Broek and longtime friend Giovanni Votano, all born and raised in Gqeberha, South Africa—jumped onto the scene in 2023 with the EP This Is Spaghettification. They joined Crazysane Records to release their debut LP, Hunki Bobo, in May ’24, which was met with wide critical acclaim. Since then, they’ve toured Europe and released another impressive album, Three Sisters, in June ’25, introducing Francis’ sweet vocals to the mix. Drawing influence from bands such as The Meters, W.I.T.C.H., CAN, and Kikagaku Moyo, these melomaniacs concoct a sonic purity that resists being nailed down. A third record is set to be recorded in early 2026. Das neue Leben? Reincarnation or escapism? Maybe neither? As for the question of whether the (old) life is still worth living – you’ll have to answer that for yourselves! The four not-so-unknown faces of Vienna’s music scene definitely offer an attractive and loud alternative to your miserable doomscrolling. Theodor Finster (Johnny and the Rotten), known for his energetic drumming style, drives Nick Ratay’s sonic-youthy guitar riffs forward to underline lyrics that are mostly in German, but sometimes in English. The message? Everything and nothing – but at least distorted. That’s exactly what Pauline Mero (Lurch) does on bass, never afraid to push it one step further. And since this noise cocktail still doesn’t make enough racket, David Schrittwieser (Lilac Vegetal) sprinkles in some feedback and piercing lead sounds on top. The four blend the sound of the ’90s and punk, mix it with a whiff of wisful, rancid Grönemeyer/Reiser-style vocals, and deliver their first demo tape with three tracks, released in December 2025.
