Themed ‘The Fire Next Time’, this edition of We The People is dedicated to the different stories of resistance against systemic violence. Taking inspiration from James Baldwin’s book, using its urgency and clear-eyed critique of systemic violence to frame a space where artists address the injustices still shaping our world — from inequality, state violence, to erasure — while affirming resistance, community and truth-telling. We focus on forefronting the voices of people of color, queer, and migrant peoples as the norm. A free ferry is departing from Amsterdam Central Station to Buiksloterweg. Turn left and you’ll walk into Tolhuistuin. For club nights, the rear entrance is used (Buiksloterweg 5C), which can be reached via the Overhoeksplein. Restaurant Tolhuistuin also has a restaurant in which you can have a bite before the show.
