09/08 FISH MARKET // ATE // w/ LOLSNAKE, manu:ra, deadlift, Schlachthaus-Floor <>< FISH MARKET ATE he ate. she ate. they ate. Headliner Info: Leaning into several layers of dance music, from metallic techno, angelic trance and squishy acid to cosmic bleep, Lolsnake (she/they) fuses a maelstrom of textures into their sets, stirring up heady atmospheres and hypnotic moods on the dancefloor, forming a magnetic aesthetic of their own. A cerebral DJ, visual artist and founder of the queer platform and soon-to-be-label Weeeirdos, the Iraqi-American talent approaches her work with an open and curious mind, always finding ways to inject colour and charisma into the space she commands. In 2023 alone, the Berghain regular took their sound worldwide, playing in De School, Blitz, Transcendence Seoul, La Machine Paris, Whole and many more parties and festivals across Europe and the Americas. Guest mixes for publications and radio stations featured along the way, including Mixmag, DJ Mag, The Lot and HÖR, where Lolsnake remains a regular fixture. This year marked Weeeirdos’ move from OHM to Säule, where the party has an ongoing residency. Additionally, Boiler Room invited Lolsnake to host a Weeeirdos live stream from Berlin’s Nåpoleon Komplex — a dungeon-like space selected by Lolsnake — alongside Nur Jaber, Neri J, Clits and Vinvar. Springboarding from her experience as a booker for a live music venue in Berlin, Lolsnake launched Weeeirdos in 2017, where she made her first appearance as a DJ. Her initial aim was to merge disparate art and music forms, like spoken word, comedy, visual art, and live and electronic music under one roof. Weeeirdos soon morphed into a dance-led event, with early bookings including VTSS, Cera Khin, SPFDJ and Viscerale. Weeeirdos was, and still is, an opportunity to arouse fun and freedom into the primarily dark, steely and occasionally pretentious aspects of the dance music scene.
