400 Lunas Concert (Music, Dance & Video) In Kooperation mit der Ars Electronica Since 2016, Anton Bruckner University has been hosting the "Sonic Saturday" as part of the Ars Electronica Festival. The event features spatial sound concerts, live performances, and audiovisual and sound installations. We aim to bring together artists, researchers and an audience interested in electroacoustic music, sonic art, spatial audio, and multimedia practices to allow for an informal, in-person exchange of ideas. Theme Inspired by the festival themes “Future Begins” and “Negotiating Humanity,” we consider how the future takes form within sonic practices. The future is often imagined as something ahead of us. Yet if it is already embedded in the present, it unfolds through decisions: what is being developed, adopted, or ignored. In digital sound practices, we constantly choose what to render audible, what to simulate, what to enhance, and what to leave behind. Spatial audio technologies promise ever more convincing environments and increasingly persuasive illusions. But to what end? Listening becomes a site where realities are constructed, filtered, and negotiated. Some signals are amplified, others disappear through omission or design. What emerges is not only a sonic space, but a position within it. As artists and listeners, we operate within systems that increasingly automate these decisions. The question is no longer only what we can create, but what we choose to sustain. Will our digital music environments become a testing ground for possible futures, controlled simulations, or just additional layers of aesthetic insulation?
