This show is part of Ticket to the Tropics Nana Benz du Togo is een vijfkoppige formatie uit Togo die ceremoniële voodoo, electro en soul verweeft tot een hypnotiserende en ritmische ervaring. Geworteld in de Togolese voodoocultuur en gedreven door feministische en ecologische thema’s, brengen ze muziek die zowel krachtig als spiritueel is. Met DIY-instrumenten – zoals baslijnen uit PVC-buizen en een drumstel van gerecycled materiaal – creëren ze een rauwe, dansbare sound die het publiek in trance brengt. Hun zang klinkt in Engels, Frans en Mina, en grijpt terug op voodooschalen en -ritmes. Na hun debuutalbum 'AGO' (2023) en twee Europese tours, verscheen dit jaar hun tweede album 'SÉ NAM' (“begrijp mij”) waarmee ze in Tolhuistuin stonden. Nana Benz eert het verleden, maar kijkt vooruit, met een sound die aarde, geest en dansvloer verbindt. A free ferry is departing from Amsterdam Central Station to Buiksloterweg. Turn left and you’ll walk into Tolhuistuin. For club nights, the rear entrance is used (Buiksloterweg 5C), which can be reached via the Overhoeksplein. Restaurant Tolhuistuin also has a restaurant in which you can have a bite before the show.
