Somewhere between a spinning class and a performative lecture, No Pares (sigue, sigue) (Don't stop (keep going, keep going)) presents itself as a modern Sisyphus trapped in incessant pedaling. A performance that repeats in a loop, attempting to surpass itself with each turn to reach the next level, recognition, and success, always out of reach. With an enthusiastic tone and merengue house music in the background, the audience is progressively seduced into becoming part of this self-exploiting delirium. Using humor, this participatory performance investigates the violence hidden behind the imperative of effort, improvement, and perpetual self-realization characteristic of turbocapitalism. The project unmasks the forms of violence and domination that lie behind the euphoria and optimism of success and self-improvement narratives, revealing the guilt, self-punishment, and dissatisfaction that accompany them. Beyond revealing the incompatibility of neoliberal temporalities and narratives with our bodies, No Pares (sigue, sigue) proposes strategies that allow us to collectively break with the inertia of productivity and its mechanisms of seduction. idea, text and performance Sergi Casero direction Mònica Molins and Sergi Casero dramaturgy support Markos Goikolea lighting design Miguel Ruz sound space design Guillem Rodríguez costume design Sara Clemente residencies Centro de Residencias Matadero Madrid (Madrid, ES), L'Infinita de l'Hospitalet (L’hospitalet del Llobregat, ES) Centrale Fies (Dro TN, Italy) Fabrica de Creació Fabra i Coats (Barcelona, ES) support and acknowledgments Amsterdam Fonds voor de Kunst, Opera Estate, Centrale Fies
