Parken Wave Field Synthesis Special in cooperation with the AESR Sound Projection Lab (Artistic Research Center, Universität für Musik und darstellende Kunst Wien) Wave field synthesis uses a dense array of loudspeakers to reconstruct a sound field instead of simulating it for one fixed listening position. So sound sources are not limited to the space outside the room. They can also be placed and moved inside it. The system we will be working with has been developed over the past three years at the MDW Artistic Research Center as part of the Applied/Experimental Sound Projection Lab. It is modular, open source and is currently set up here as a wave field synthesis system with 192 channels. 6 sound artists have been invited to develop a composition for this occasion at Westbahnstudios.
