The band holds its place in the contemporary musical avant-garde, combining the pathos of Yugoslav punk with contemporary performative practices, drawing parallels from Belgrade to Manchester. The band is known for its artistic approach to music creation and visual image, as it often collaborates with various artists, fashion designers, and photographers. »The most minimal indie rock possible.« - Derek Walmsley, The Wire, August 2022 On their eight album balans confronts struggle in the way they know best – through 12 new songs that seek to give a voice to those who, despite living in a democratic society, are left with a sense of powerlessness. The everyday struggles, frustrations and reflections are rendered through a poetic and melodic lens. The album "prisila ne prinese pokoritve / constraint does not convey compliance" marks a return to the duo’s beginnings, bringing with it the same raw energy and primal intensity, while at the same time reflecting the evolution of their 13-year creative journey. The album’s concept is more deliberate, its imagery more refined. While the rhythms move away from punk’s unrestrained ferocity, its creative spirit remains firmly at the core. The sonic palette is subtler, the songs a touch more ethereal and slightly slower-paced. In keeping with the album’s intimate character, these shifts reveal the duo’s artistic maturity and their growing inclination towards a more carefully crafted, studio-focused listening experience.
