Doors: 20h, start: 20.30h STEVEN BROWN Ein Vorreiter der New Yorker No Wave-Szene präsentiert sein brandneues Album. 1977 gründete der amerikanische Kosmopolit Steven Brown die Art-Rock-Band Tuxedomoon. Ihre ersten Alben wurden von den Avantgardisten The Residents auf deren Label Ralph Records veröffentlicht, und Tuxedomoon entwickelte sich schnell zu einer der einflussreichsten Bands der 1980er Jahre. Als Ronald Reagan jedoch US-Präsident wurde, wanderten Brown und seine Musikerkollegen bald aus und ließen sich für über ein Jahrzehnt in Brüssel nieder. Steven Brown lebt seit Jahrzehnten in Mexiko – und sein Werk umfasst mittlerweile 15 Tuxedomoon-Alben und mehr als 20 Alben, die er unter seinem eigenen Namen oder mit seinen mexikanischen Bands Ensamble Kafka, Nine Rain und Cinema Domingo Orchestra aufgenommen hat. Er komponierte außerdem Musik für Tanz (z.B. WHEN IT'S OVER When It’s Over is a new Vienna-based duo fusing atmospheric guitarwork with minimalistic synths on top of hypnotic beats, while brooding vocals guide the songs from introspective calmness to abrasive peaks.
