Talib Kweli ist einer der streitbarsten und auch spannendsten Figuren, die aus der Ende 90er entstandenen Independent Rap Szene New Yorks hervorgegangen ist. Einerseits mit seiner ersten 12inch „Fortified Live“ auf Rawkus Records gemeinsam mit DJ Hitek aus Cincinnatti unter dem Namen REFLECTION ETERNAL, und dann ein Jahr später mit einem der besten Alben der Indie Ära, „Black Star“ gemeinsam mit MOS DEF aka YAASIN BEY. 2000 droppte er dann mit Hitek das REFLECTION ETERNAL Album „Train of Thought“, ein weiterer Meilenstein in der RAWKUS Geschichte. 2002 ginng er dann solo, und veröffentlichte ebenfalls auf Rawkus sein Debutalbum „Quality“ unter anderm mit Beats von J DILLA; DJ QIK, DJ SCRATCH und auch niemand geringerem als dem upcoming Star KANYE WEST, auf dessen Debutalbum „The College Dropout“ er dann auch einen Featurepart auf dem Song „Get em High“ ablieferte. TALIB KWELIS Karriere lief weiter, viele Soloalben, ein weiteres REFLECTION ETERNAL Album 2008, 2022 dann ein auch einen neues BLACK STAR Album sowie zwei Alben mit dem Westcoast Soundgenie MADLIB gehen auch auf seine Rechnung. TALIB KWELI ist auch sehr erfolgreich mit seinem Podcast, er ist eine der markantesten Stimmen gegen Rassismus und Faschismus im HipHop. Nun also zum ersten Mal in der KAPU und das ist schon ziemlich sensationell!
