Strange Pleasures by digital_kid01 ABOUT ME: I am Ekaterina Kartseva or digital_kid01, an artist, currently based in Austria. How do I make art? I just try to replicate the image I see in my head to reality it with whatever means at hand. I am fond of the surrealist art style. I think it portrays how the brain thinks in the most accurate way, since emotions and images are not filtered by the wish to distil them to a universally translatable form. ABOUT THE VERNISSAGE: The name of the vernissage is a title of the album by Still Corners. The art style was inspired by the calmness of their songs and the moments they’ve created for me. The calm melodies found in everyday life and dreamy landscapes is what this Exhibition aims to show. This album has been with me since I was 17 years old and was a constant when I was to make art. There is something about the melodies that inspired me to translate them into strokes, pause my life and see which moments of my life can I turn into art. These can be the most random moments of life, which for me were: Danish filmmaking culture, a course on semiotics I had during my Bachelor’s degree, advertising that I've been hearing on the loudspeaker while shopping at Viru Keskus and mountains of Salzburg I see now every day when I do my long nature walks. ABOUT THE ARTWORKS: The vernissage features artworks that are united with a topic of nature, dreaming inwardly and embracing the soft and hazy atmosphere of day and night dreams. Some of the images were drawn directly from my dreams, while some were a free flow of Imagination, inspired by moments of feeling "strange pleasures” one can experience if they were to immerse into their own dreams.
