Community Workshop with Magdalena Neuburger & Katerina Ourda GIVE & TAKE – Holding Space for Myself and Others Last year, Being in Community – Planting a Seed invited us to reflect on what community means in dance and imagine the kinds of spaces we want to create together. The conversations continued long after the workshop, raising new questions about participation, shared responsibility, and how we care for ourselves and one another while building community. This year’s workshop grows from those reflections and the needs that emerged over the past year. What do you bring to your community, what do you receive from it, and how can you help create spaces where others feel welcome, supported, and included? In this interactive workshop, participants will reflect on their own role within a freestyle dance community, explore different ways people engage and contribute, and identify their unique strengths and needs. Building on this self-awareness, we will explore what it means to hold space for others. Together, we will discover how thriving communities are built through both visible and invisible contributions — and how everyone can play a part in creating them.
